The Euro GP was created in 1998. From a faint trail beat into the
tall grass, the Euro GP has become the premier Grand Prix track in
the Northwest.
Unlike any other facility, Eddieville was designed as a Grand Prix course first, and a motocross portion was developed later. This gives a flexibility not found elsewhere. The course can be run both directions and large portions are visible from the pit/viewing area
The course is 6 ¼ miles long, with a 1 ¼
mile MX track within it. Unlike most Grand Prix tracks, the gnarliest
parts of the track are out on the GP portion, not the MX track! With
natural whoop sections, steep canyons, and the wide sweeping turns
in the grassy fields, the Euro GP is unlike any other event. The 200
yard man-made whoop section in pit row, as well as the MX tracks'
whoops, jumps, table-tops and off-camber corners , add to the diversity.
With a average track width approaching 30', there are ample opportunities
to pass. We have had over 150 riders on the course at one time and
have yet to hear a gripe of congestion or no passing room. The Euro
GP is basically a 6 ¼ mile giant natural MX track. There are
no doubles or triples, but there are many opportunities for air if
you want to fly!
AND
LOAM!… REAL LOAM!…You've heard of it, now you can experience
what racing on real, deep loam is actually like! There is a difference
between riding on loam or riding on diced up, choppy, hard pan clay.
All the field sections and most of the MX track are deep loamy soils
with hardly a rock present.
Located east of the Cascades, the average rainfall of 16 inches, is
less than half of Washougal MX track. This means we have more days
of mud-free riding. We start riding earlier in the spring and ride
later in the fall. With watering equipment, we can extend our spring
season and start out earlier in the fall.
The course is built on the north slope of the Columbia hills, 6 miles
south of Goldendale on HWY 97. Zigzaging up and down the Columbia
hills, there are many opportunities to test your horsepower on the
uphills, and your brakes( and nerves!), on the downhills.
In 2002 we added culverts and drain tiles to handle excess water ,
and a well and watering equipment to handle lack of rain. The access
road was extended to the top of the hill for excellent track viewing
and gravel was put down.
Since 2002 we have added a 42 man starting gate, underground water system with fire hoses and sprinklers completely around the MX track, we have 3 different size dozers, two large 4-wheel drive tractors that pull a variety of implements from water trailer to disc to our newest acquisition, a 11' giant rototiller that breaks and firms the ground with a packer towed behind.
In 2004 we added a P-A system that also transmits on 88.7fm to your vehicle radio.
A entry booth was added in 2005 that doubles as a souvenir stand. We doubled our water storage capacity , and dug 4 ponds to control run-off as well as provide future obstacles.
